How to apply

The first step towards getting your perfect job is to apply for the Corporate Graduate Scheme online(NB the system opens in September 2013). You'll need a few things to help you fill it out, so grab these before you start:

• Details of relevant past experience
• Contact details
• Details of which department you see yourself working in
• A list of your academic achievements (you'll need to have minimum grades of A, B, B at A level, plus a 2:1 degree qualification)

Handy Tip: It's a good idea to keep a record of your application (it will be useful to refer to if you reach the telephone interview stage), so print the pages as you progress through the form, as you won't be able to re-access your application once it's been submitted.

Here's how the selection process works:

Online testing

If your online application puts you ahead of the pack, you'll then have the chance to prove your numerical and verbal skills online.

Telephone interview

You can then book a phone interview, which usually lasts less than 30 minutes. You'll be asked some industry-related questions and talk about your personal interests.

Discovery day

Held at our Head Office in Central Birmingham, this day is a great opportunity to find out more about Mitchells & Butlers, ask us lots of questions and decide whether our graduate scheme is right for you. All the assessors you'll meet are current and former graduates, so you can ask them anything you like and get an honest answer from people who know exactly what the Corporate Graduate Scheme is all about. It's also an opportunity to impress us with your skills in group exercises, an individual presentation and a paper-based numerical reasoning test.

Assessment centre

The final stage in the selection process is a longer day in which you'll do another group exercise, a negotiation exercise and a structured interview. The assessors will be senior managers and directors, who are the people you need to impress if you want to be offered a graduate place.

It's a challenging process with excellent rewards, but the first stage is easy.
