Last year the new apprenticeship Government standard was introduced and we are proud to celebrate our first successful Mitchells & Butlers apprentice to complete it!
Ben Collins, a budding apprentice at the Village Inn, an Ember Inns in Southampton has just completed the Hospitality Team Member apprenticeship to a Food & Beverage Service Level 2 Standard. This sees him not only become our first apprentice to complete the End Point Assessment (EPA), one of the final tests needed to complete the apprenticeship scheme, but also the first from our apprenticeship training partner, Lifetime Training's Hospitality Division.
Ben said “I found both the apprenticeship and the EPA a fantastic experience. It was fun and really tested my knowledge from all my training and four years of being with Mitchells & Butlers. My favourite part was completing the business project which I am looking forward to implementing within our business. As a whole, the apprenticeship has benefited me with new knowledge and enhanced my existing knowledge. I'm glad I got the chance to do this not only for my CV, but also to help me progress up the career ladder with Mitchells & Butlers. I can't thank my trainer, Jess, enough for all the time, patience and support she gave me.”
The new apprenticeship standards in the UK have been introduced to make sure apprenticeships are up to scratch in an ever-changing hospitality world. We have welcomed these measures in our apprenticeship schemes to make sure we are giving young people valuable training in hospitality that can kick-start their career.
Jess, Regional Trainer from Lifetime Training, said “Ben was a great learner, really keen and willing to learn. He attended all our meetings and completed his independent study, taking it all in his stride. He has huge potential in the hospitality industry and is a great asset to Mitchells & Butlers. This qualification is brand new and I'm so proud of him for being the first apprentice at Mitchells & Butlers for achieving this, and he should be too!”
Dedicated to opening doors for young people, here at Mitchells & Butlers we offer a range of award-winning apprenticeships from our fantastic chef apprenticeships, our Bar & Waiting apprenticeships through to our Hospitality Management apprenticeships. This success with Ben showcases how our high-quality apprenticeships give young people a firm foot on the career ladder.
Paul Capper, our Vocational Learning Manager also adds, “We are extremely proud of Ben for being our first learner to undertake and pass the new assessment approach; we wish him all the best as he looks to embark on his next supervisory level apprenticeship and further his career.”
