At Mitchells & Butlers we’re proud to award and recognise talent daily.

At Mitchells & Butlers we’re proud to award and recognise talent daily, and we’re delighted to announce we are nominating Joe Buck for the ‘Rising Star’ award at the National Apprenticeship Awards this year.

Joe has seized his moment to become the cream of the crop taking on three apprenticeships in three years at Toby Carvery. Completing both Level 2 Hospitality Services and Level 2 Team Leader apprenticeships, which saw him work across every aspect of the business from Front of House, Back of House and through to Staff Management. Joe is continuing to create the recipe for success by finishing the Level 3 Hospitality Supervisor (Food & Beverage) course this year equivalent to an A-Level qualification.

Working from apprentice through to Duty Manager across three years alongside his studies is testament to Joe’s fantastic determination, passion and dedication. James Birkett, Joe’s Regional Trainer from Lifetime Training comments, “I first met Joe in October 2015 as an enthusiastic though shy 17 year old. I signed him onto the M&B Hospitality Services apprenticeship. Joe flew through the course and his work ethic and competence were heart-warming to an individual who is passionate about the industry too.”

Becoming an apprentice with us is more than just delivering outstanding guest services, it’s about learning how the hospitality industry works and how we maintain the success of our fantastic businesses. Our apprentices have the opportunity to master both Front of House and Back of House crafts and even offer a fast-track into General Manager – something that Joe is striving for and beyond. Joe told us that his aims for his future are: “Assistant Manager next year, gain experience as a Kitchen Manager, General Manager then onwards to a corporate role!”

Seen as an invaluable player by Graham Holton, Joe’s Area Manager, Graham says “he is a huge asset for Mitchells and Butlers and can progress to General Manager and beyond! When we have worked through difficult situations it was Joe who we looked to for support.”
