Combining the power of academic learning and on-the-job experience, apprenticeships are a great way for us to develop the next generation of hospitality leaders. Aimed at all levels, our apprenticeships can range from kitchen and waiting roles through to restaurant management schemes and this month we are adding to our learning offer - with the addition of our degree level apprenticeship, in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University.
The Hospitality Chartered Manager degree includes a range of different areas for apprentices to master; from project management to managing customer and stakeholder relations. The module-structured course means apprentices will get the chance to become confident management professionals, hone cutting-edge skills in pub and restaurant management all whilst developing their skills and knowledge in a more formal academic setting.
Plus, it gets even better. After completing the course, successful apprentices can turn up the heat with the opportunity to apply for CMI Chartered Manager status – receiving a CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership. What does that mean? CMI Chartered Manager status is the highest level that can be achieved in the management profession, so our apprentices can become industry leaders in pub and restaurant management.
Liz Gorb, Manchester Metropolitan University’s Director of Apprenticeships says, “We have a long history of collaboration with industry partners, so are delighted to welcome apprentices from Mitchells & Butlers on to our hospitality-focused Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship. Mitchells & Butlers is home to some of the UK’s best-known hospitality brands and, as its recognition at the HR Distinction Awards shows, it is a business passionate about developing their colleagues to drive the organisation forward.
“We think the higher-level skills and knowledge delivered through a tailored degree apprenticeship is one of the best ways to support colleagues to fulfil their full potential and are looking forward to working alongside Mitchells & Butlers over the next four years to make this happen. I know our experienced hospitality team are excited about working with this motivated and ambitious group and are really looking forward to the positive addition they will make to our already dynamic cohort.”
Mitchells & Butlers Vocational Learning Manager Paul Capper says, “This is an amazing opportunity for students to build on-the-job training with this academic course. With support throughout the course from university personal tutors, their advice and expertise, complements the mentoring and skills our apprentices gain on the job.”
Paul adds, “Choosing Manchester Metropolitan University meant that our apprentices were able to benefit from an amazingly talented and experienced hospitality team who will mentor and steer them throughout the course”.
