We loved your application; you aced the interview and just like that, your first day with us is just around the corner. We’re super excited that very soon you’ll be joining our team so we wanted to give you a heads up about what awaits you on your first day and how you can prepare.

What to expect...

It’s always a bit overwhelming starting any new job so it’s absolutely fine to feel a little nervous but you don’t need to worry, your first few weeks with us will be about learning how we do what we do and finding your place within our team - we won’t be throwing you into the deep end!

We’ll be waiting for you when you arrive and we’ll go you through what you can expect from your first shift, give you a refresh of where everything is and introduce you to the team who will show you the ropes and point you in the right direction when you need a helping hand.

After your first shift, the manager you’ve worked with will sit down with you, ask you how you got on and talk you through the development plan we’ve put together for you that’ll make sure you're one of our MVPs in no time!

What do I need to prepare?

Before you start with us, we’re sure you want to know a bit more about who we are and how things work.

We’ve put together a few short e-learning modules that will give you a better idea about our brand, how we deliver top quality service safely as well as what Mitchells & Butlers as a larger company strives for. You may have already been sent your login details to MABLE – our online learning platform – but if not, get in touch and we can get this sorted for you in time for your first day.

Do I need to bring anything?

Make sure to bring along a couple of pens (one to use, one to lose!) so you can make any notes that might help you figure things out as well as your Right to Work documents if we haven’t already taken a copy before the day. Other than that, we’ll provide you with your uniform and everything you need to get started. Although a top tip from us – wearing a comfortable pair of shoes will make all the difference!

I’ve heard something about MABLE – who or what is MABLE?

MABLE stands for Mitchells And Butlers Learning Environment and is a platform that is there to offer support and learning to every single M&B employee.

Every now and then, we have to do some essential e-learning modules to ensure that our knowledge of working safely and legally is up to scratch but MABLE offers so much more. You can find courses that allow you to hone the skills that you use on a day or day basis as well as development courses that help you plan your first steps towards the next stage of your career.

How do I get my hands on my discount and where can I use it?

I need to give you my Right to Work documents – what exactly do I need to provide?

If we've already taken a scan of your Right to Work documents then you shouldn't need to bring them along. However, if we do need to see them then your passport on its own is perfect.

If you don't have a passport that you can bring with you, we can also accept a copy of your birth certificate alongside proof of your National Insurance number.
