Interested in doing an apprenticeship? Here's Sophia's take on the programme
Sophia completed our Team Leader Level 2 programme at the Nicholson's Crooked Billet in Leigh-On-Sea. She spoke to us about the programme:
How has your apprenticeship experienced been handled given the Covid-19 situation?
My trainer made everything clear from the get go and motivated me to help me finish.
What do you like best about working for M&B?
My team. They make such a huge difference and are so hard working. I also think the support we get with regards to training is fantastic. I love MABLE and find it so handy.
What attracted you to a M&B apprenticeship?
I was completing my TL training course on MABLE anyway. I was formally offered the chance to do this at the same time so I thought 'why not get a full qualification?'
What has been your highlight of the apprenticeship experience?
The relationship I had with Ellis, my trainer, from the get go. She was always there and ready to offer help and support.
What is your favourite part of your job role?
My colleagues and the flexibility in my role but also no day is ever the same. It keeps things exciting.
Has the apprenticeship made you view your job role differently?
Yes it has. It helped me improve in my own development but also empowered me to help and guide my colleagues not on courses either.
Were there any challenges in your role? If so, how did you overcome them?
Juggling work and the course was tough on occasion but by using the support system and managing my time effectively it all worked out great.
Would you recommend an apprenticeship to your team or friends?
Yes I really would. At the end of the day you're learning. You might know it anyway but you get to dig deeper and get a qualification that is recognised which could be handy for the future.
What would you tell someone who is considering starting a M&B apprenticeship?
It's not like school. Don’t be afraid. Manage your time well and you will be able to perform and not let anyone or yourself down.
What is your next career goal?
More managerial roles.
How has Covid-19 delivery been handled?
My trainer made everything clear and motivated me to help finish.
