Here at Mitchells & Butlers would you know we have a large team of established in-house Surveyors who oversee a portfolio of our pubs and restaurants within an aligned geographical region? Well if not, we do! Our professional and established Chartered Surveyors look after circa 90 sites and undertake the delivery of all building surveys within their geographic portfolio, as well as managing the maintenance requirements, statutory inspection services and delivering in support of operational standards projects.
Our pubs, restaurants and bars stretch across the United Kingdom, and you can imagine the variety of buildings and locations that our portfolio encompasses! It’s vast, and this is a great opportunity to work within a large range property portfolio. From listed pubs to modern city centre brassieres, we have a rich array of property that keeps every day engaging and diverse!
Due to internal succession, an excellent full-time permanent job opportunity for a Chartered Building Surveyor has arisen for an individual who is passionate about their profession and looking to take on a new challenge. As a Chartered Building Surveyor, due to the nature of the role you must be comfortable with a high proportion of travel within your remit and a full UK Driving License is essential. This role offers you a Company Car or car allowance, giving you the capability to visit sites in your portfolio both on a regular/planned basis and on a re-active basis.
The geographical region we are currently recruiting for stretches from the West Midlands, encompassing Staffordshire, Shropshire and up to South Cheshire and surrounding areas. The Opportunity – Chartered Surveyor
- Acting as, and delivering in your role as a building custodian, responsible for the safe maintenance of c90 company property assets, maintaining the asset to ensure they are safe, legal, and protected whilst liaising with internal teams and external agencies such as EHO, Environment Agency, Fire Officers, Planning Building Control.
- Playing a pivotal role in the support of our operations team, for example: managing crisis such as fire, flood etc and supporting when business critical works stall to ensure our businesses are able to be open and trade at all times
- Being accountable for the management and control of the area revenue and capital budgets (c£5m) to ensure delivery to budget and best value is achieved.
- Responsible for all building maintenance data accuracy and completeness across all internal systems.
- Managing complex reactive issues and projects, supporting our Operations teams
- Utilising your strong interpersonal skills, alongside your uncompromising attitude to Health and Safety, to deliver successful cost, quality, and programme management.
- Respond pro-actively to maintenance problems and manage the relationship of key suppliers and internal key stakeholders.
- Acting as an On-Duty Building Manager on a rota basis alongside all other Building Managers. Here your role is to provide out-of-hours assistance in business-critical situations to all businesses. The Duty Building Manager should only be contacted in business-critical and emergency situations, that are likely to close the business.
What you’ll need to bring to the Area Building Surveyor role:
- Knowledge of operating in the Retail and Licensed field, highly desirable
- Solid and proven experience delivering in a building surveying role
- Strong ability to build and maintain successful working relationships
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent or competing demands
- Experience working in a large multi-layered organisation, highly desirable
- Chartered CIOB, CABE or RICS professional
