Got your A-level results? Here's what to do next
So, the day is finally here! You've opened that envelope, and checked those results online, and whether you’re jumping for joy or feeling a little lost, one thing's for sure – your next chapter is about to begin. But what’s the right move for you?
No matter where you stand, there’s plenty you can do to start shaping your future – and we’ve got some ideas for you at M&B.
Whether you take a gap year, travel, or try different jobs to find your passion, every experience counts.
Think about the future – plan ahead
It’s easy to get caught up in the here and now, but taking a moment to think about where you want to be in a few years’ time can be super helpful.
Are you aiming for university, considering an Apprenticeship, or jumping straight into work?
Whatever your long-term goals are, starting your journey at M&B could be a stepping stone in the right direction.
We’ve had plenty of team members who started out in part-time roles and went on to land graduate positions with us later on – it’s all about building those connections and proving what you can do. Take Isobel as an example, who started as a summer employee in 2021 and is now doing a HR Graduate programme.
Get a summer job – gain experience and have fun!
If you’re not quite ready to make big decisions, how about dipping your toes into the world of work with a summer job?
Whether it’s pulling pints behind the bar, waiting tables, or helping out in the kitchen, a job with M&B is more than just a way to earn some cash.
It’s a chance to gain valuable experience, build your confidence, and meet some great people along the way. Plus, if you enjoy it, who knows? You could find yourself staying on part-time, working your way up, or even coming back in the future to join one of our graduate schemes.
Explore Apprenticeships – earn while you learn
University might be the dream for some, but it’s not the only way to level up your career. Apprenticeships offer the perfect balance of gaining real-world experience while still learning the ropes.
At M&B, we offer a range of hospitality apprenticeships that not only give you industry-recognised qualifications but also let you earn a salary from day one. You’ll be learning new skills in a fast-paced environment and building a solid foundation for a career that could take you anywhere – from running your own pub to joining our head office team.
First things first, prepare your CV
Once you’ve decided what direction you’d like to go in, take some time to get your hospitality CV in shape.
Your CV is your first chance to show off what you can bring to the table, so make it count!
Highlight your skills, achievements, and any work experience – even if it’s just volunteering or a part-time job. Tailor it to the type of role you’re going for and don’t forget to keep it clear and concise.
With that being said, we don’t need a CV for many of our roles to make things as simple and easy as possible for you.
A-Level results day 2024 - your next steps start here
Whatever your results, this is just the beginning.
Whether you’re diving straight into an apprenticeship, picking up a summer job, or thinking about where to head next, there’s no one right path.
At M&B, we’re here to support you on your journey, offering loads of opportunities to grow, learn, and have fun along the way.
