We want to make our application process simple, especially when applying via your mobile phone. All we ask is for you to fill out a quick application form where you can share your details, experience, availability, and any reasonable adjustments you may need - no CV needed!
Next Steps
Your application will be reviewed by the manager of the pub or restaurant you have applied to, who will contact you within 7 days. You’ll receive a phone or email invitation to a face‑to‑face interview at the businsess if successful.
Top Tips
Add as much detail as possible about any previous experience and skills as well as your availability, so the manager has enough information about you and can decide on your application.
INTERVIEW
If your application is successful, you’ll be invited to a face‑to‑face interview with the manager at the business.
This hour‑long interview gives us the opportunity to learn more about your experience, leadership skills and what you could bring to the team. It’s also your chance to understand our business and what the Assistant Manager/Deputy Manager role could look like for you.
INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE
The interview experience will involve:
Job Preview - Business tour and a skills-based activity to gain understanding of our brand offer and your interaction with our guests and team.
Behavioural based interview questions - an opportunity for you to share real-life examples that demonstrate your experience and the qualities and skills we’re looking for.
SWOT Analysis – you will be asked to prepare a SWOT analysis on the business you have applied for; to present at your interview and demonstrate your skills. You will be provided with a guide to help you with your invite to interview.
M&B Assistant Manager Questions
During your interview, you will be asked behavioural-based questions such as:
- Can you tell me about a time you got your team clear on what needed to be done and working towards the same goal?
- Share an example of when your team hit a challenge or lost abit of focus. How did you help get things back on track?
- Describe a time when something changed at work and you helped your team to adjust to it?
- Tell me about a time you pushed yourself to try something new or develop in an area you weren’t as confident in.
TOP TIPS
Prepare great examples for your interview: Be ready with two or three stories that show how you've supported a team, handled challenges and delivered results even from non-hospitality roles. Specific wins help us picture you delivering the same standard for your guests.
Use your SWOT to show how you’d improve the business:
Focus on practical ideas to improve performance, whether that’s increasing sales, improving the guest experience or motivating your team.
Show your personality and passion for hospitality: Hospitality is a people-first industry, so let your energy and personality shine. We notice genuine enthusiasm, be yourself and show your passion.
