Deciding whether to do an apprenticeship? Here are Sophie's highlights
Are you tossing up between doing an apprenticeship and going down the route of further education, or you've been working for some time but you fancy a new challenge working in a pub or restaurant?
Either way, apprenticeships are for people of all ages and experience levels and to show you what you can gain from the programme we spoke to Sophie. Sophie completed her apprenticeship at The Bull's Head, a Vintage Inns Pub & Restaurant near to Birmingham and here are her highlights:
What do you like best about working for M&B?
Knowing I have the support of my team!
What attracted you to a M&B apprenticeship?
A friend recommended it and I liked the sounds of earning at the same time as learning. I really enjoy learning so getting paid to gain a qualification seemed like a no brainer to me.
What has been your highlight of the apprenticeship experience?
I'd say knowing that I now have the confidence to do my job well and learning so many new skills.
What is your favourite part of your job role?
Feeling confident in my role - this is especially important for me during those busy periods.
Has the apprenticeship made you view your job role differently?
Yes, it's made me see that my job isn't as complicated as I thought it might have been and with the extra knowledge I've gained a huge boost to my confidence.
Were there any challenges in your role, if you how did you overcome them?
Different people have different ways of doing things, this was something I had to get used to as well as getting into a routine and learning the business.
Would you recommend an apprenticeship to your team or friends?
Definitely!
What would you tell someone who is considering starting a M&B apprenticeship?
It's a great opportunity and everything you learn is linked to your role so it's all designed to help you be better at your job.
What is your next career goal?
I want to take on the next level so I can build on the skills I've learnt so far.
Is an apprenticeship on the cards for you?
Now you've heard Sophie's experience all that's left to do it decide which apprenticeship is right for you. Find out more about apprenticeships with M&B below and get your application started!
