What makes the iconic Browns Brasserie a special place to work?
Perhaps you’ve dined at a Browns restaurant and tried our traditional Sunday roast or our signature cocktails, but have you ever stopped to think about what it would be like to work at one? Browns is just one of 13 brands at Mitchells Butlers and while you'll find the bustling brasseries scattered across the country, we are one big family. Our people set us apart from the crowd, and we wouldn’t be the Browns that we are without them. People like Stella and Danny.
Stella Mukaj joined the business in 2015 and is one of our Shift Supervisors at our Covent Garden restaurant. And Danny joined us in 2017 and has since progressed from a Deputy Manager to the General Manager of our West India Quay restaurant.
But enough from us. We spoke to the two of them so we could give you a taste of what makes the iconic Browns such a special place to work.
Why did you choose a management job at M&B?
Stella - “I chose M&B because the culture aligns with my values. Having been at the company for a while now, I can say that I really value the flexibility of my working schedule. When I was a student, balancing my job with my studies, I felt supported. At M&B, the hard work is well rewarded.”
Danny - “The room for progression within M&B is incredible. If you put your mind to it, there are so many opportunities for you. I find the work rewarding, my line manager is a joy to work for, and I enjoy my time at work.”
What's the best thing about being a part of the Browns team?
Stella - “The feeling of never knowing enough - that keeps me excited. At Browns, every day is different to the previous, but always challenging, rewarding and fun. Also, working with experienced managers and learning from them is inspiring.”
Danny - “My team is amazing - resilient and always helping me push the business forward. They are an asset to this company.”
What makes M&B different from other employers?
Stella - “The sense of belonging and the community. In companies this size, it’s easy to feel like just a number. But at M&B, people are valued and that’s why I feel like I can make a difference.”
Danny - “M&B is consistently developing benefits for the team. Also, at a company of this size with multiple brands, progression can be a lot easier.”
What three words best describe M&B?
Stella - “Other than our PRIDE values, I’d say reliable, rewarding and transparent.”
Danny - “Innovative, loyal and fun.”
Who is your dream dinner guest?
Danny - “My dream dinner guest would have to be David Attenborough – No further comments needed. Legend.”
The benefits at Browns
Including 33% off your meal at all M&B brands, a workplace pension for peace of mind and 33% off your stay at Innkeeper’s Collection hotels , the extensive benefits package available to our teams will make being part of the Browns family that little bit sweeter.
Also, we can’t miss out on mentioning the tips you can pick up as a Brown’s Waiting and Kitchen team member. Our teams are known for making memories since 1973. The first-class service we deliver for all our guests means that on average you can scoop up as much as £25 in tips on an eight-hour shift. Not too shabby, right?
Become a part of the Browns team
As Stella and Danny have explained, a job at Browns is a chance to be a part of a supportive and talented team. You'll learn from the very best, make friends for life, and build a career. So what do we look for in our kitchen team, bar and waiting team, and managers at Browns?
Whatever goals we set as a business, we go after it with passion. And we look for this same drive in our colleagues. Whether you're eager to rise the ranks in the kitchen, hone your management skills, or learn through an apprenticeship, we've got you covered.
