A year of Hospitality With Heart at Mitchells & Butlers: 2025 highlights
From buzzing pubs to vibrant bars and welcoming restaurants, 2025 has been a big one at Mitchells & Butlers. Across the UK, our teams have been busy opening new venues, winning industry awards, giving back to local communities, and creating careers people genuinely care about.
If you’ve been wondering what it’s really like to work in hospitality at Mitchells & Butlers, this round-up says it all. Here’s a look at our 2025 highlights, the moments, milestones and heart-led stories that made the year special.
How did Mitchells & Butlers grow in 2025?
Growth has been a huge theme this year, and not just in numbers. In early 2025, we proudly welcomed Ego Mediterranean into the Mitchells & Butlers family, bringing fresh flavours and new career opportunities into our portfolio of hospitality brands.
We also opened the doors to some standout new venues:
- Browns Exeter launched in January
- Our 12th Arrowsmiths arrived in Bromley in April
- We doubled the New Orleans spirit with a second Orleans Smokehouse in Upper Norwood later in the year
More venues mean more roles across pubs, bars and restaurants nationwide, from kitchen and front-of-house jobs to management and property careers. For anyone exploring hospitality jobs in the UK, 2025 showed just how much room there is to grow with M&B.
What awards did Mitchells & Butlers win in 2025?
Let’s talk recognition, because this year brought plenty to celebrate.
In March, we were named Best Sustainable Pub Company at the Publican Awards. By May, our Chef’s Academy Apprenticeship Programme picked up Best Apprenticeship in Hospitality and Tourism, recognising the investment we make in learning and development.
July was a standout moment. Mitchells & Butlers was crowned the Number 1 Apprenticeship Employer in the UK by the Department for Education and RateMyApprenticeship, a huge achievement and one we’re incredibly proud of.
The wins kept coming:
- All Bar One took home On-Trade Operator of the Year at the Footprint Drinks Sustainability Awards
- We were named Operator of the Year for Energy Efficiency & Sustainability at the FEJ Awards
From sustainability to training, these awards reflect the standards we set and the people who make it happen every day.
What does “Hospitality With Heart” really look like?
For us, Hospitality With Heart goes far beyond our venues. In 2025, our teams rolled up their sleeves and showed up for their communities in powerful ways.
Across the year, colleagues took on fundraising challenges, including the London Landmark Half Marathon and Chase the Sun Cycle, raising thousands for Social Bite and supporting the fight against homelessness.
A special shout-out goes to Joe Honey, who completed 10 marathons in 20 days, an incredible effort for an important cause.
We also focused on giving time, not just money:
- Our chefs partnered with Cook for Good, hosting masterclasses that helped children build confidence in the kitchen
- Our Property Team volunteered with FareShare, helping distribute more than 2,000 meals in one day
This is what purpose-led hospitality looks like in action.
What’s it like to work at Mitchells & Butlers?
A job at Mitchells & Butlers is about more than shifts on a rota. It’s about feeling supported, included and part of something bigger:
- Flexible working patterns that support real life
- A safe, welcoming environment where people can thrive
- Fair rewards that recognise the effort you put in
- Clear career progression across hospitality, management and support roles
Most importantly, it’s about belonging. We work hard to create places where people feel proud of the work they do and the impact they make, on our guests, on the communities we serve, and on one another.
What’s next for Mitchells & Butlers?
2025 was a year of growth, recognition and giving back. Looking ahead, we’re building on that momentum with more opportunities, more innovation and even more ways to make a difference across the UK hospitality sector.
