We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst to join our award-winning Business Change and Technology team on a permanent basis. Reporting into the Data and Integration Manager you will design, build and optimise data and integration solutions to meet the needs of our internal customers using Microsoft and SAP toolsets. You’ll interpret data, analysing results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports. You will work with our architecture community to bring technology to life in-line with our technology strategy and architectural plans and roadmap.


This role will involve a mixture of office and home working, with our Head Office based in Birmingham City Centre.

What you’ll be doing as our Data Analyst…

  • Enabling our mission to ingest, store, cleanse, model and transform data for Insights, Machine Learning models, AI, dashboards and reports.
  • Bringing to life our strategy to centralise multiple different domains of data and support production of reports and dashboards that draw together data from Sales, Labour, Energy, Stock and more.
  • Assuring that data is cleansed, mapped, transformed, and otherwise optimised for storage and use according to business and technical requirements.
  • Solution design using Microsoft Azure services and other tools.
  • The ability to automate tasks and deploy production standard code (with unit testing, continuous integration, versioning etc.)
  • Loading transformed data into storage and reporting structures in destinations including data warehouse, high speed indexes, real-time reporting systems and analytics applications.
  • Where possible, creating extensible and re-usable models that our business colleagues can use
  • Data Modelling & strong analytics skills in Analytics.
  • Enabling a Lambda Architecture and develop solutions that support fast and slow moving data.
  • Making use of coding languages such as C#, Python, R, SQL or PowerShell to develop solutions.
  • Working with multiple different file types and formats such as JSON, XML, Parquet, CSV.
  • Implementing security to ensure data can be accessed appropriately based on ACL and or RBAC.
  • Ensuring data is catalogued and appropriately labelled according to our Information Classification policy.
  • Ensuring alignment with GDPR and PCI standards where appropriate.
  • Building re-usable datasets that business colleagues can safely and effectively discover and consume.

Qualifications Required…

  • Previous experience as a Data Analyst or similar role
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)
