We have an exciting opportunity for a HR Programme Manager to join our award-winning Business Change and Technology team on a 24 month day rate contract. Reporting into the Head of Portfolio Delivery you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the planning, development, and execution of various significant workstreams within the HR Programme.


This is a vital and high-profile programme to support the company’s people strategy and could support the transformation of our employee’s experience and the handling of our people data.  Whilst it is focused initially on the implementation of core HR and payroll products, these exciting changes must remain front of mind.


You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure workstreams, led by Project Managers are completed on time, within budget and meet company objectives. This role requires excellent leadership, stakeholder communication, facilitation of key decisions, and supporting key organisational change


This role will involve a mixture of office and home working, with our Head Office based in Birmingham City Centre.

What you’ll be doing as our HR Programme Manager…

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Developing and managing project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Coordinating resources, including team members, third-party contractors, and vendors.
  • Leading decision-making forums to ensure that design issues do not delay progress of the programme
  • Monitoring project progress and performance to ensure milestones are met.
  • Preparing for and lead the implementation and cutover activity to support go live.


Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Working closely with stakeholders to gather project requirements and objectives.
  • In addition to HR, collaborating with various departments such as operations, marketing, and finance to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
  • Facilitating communication between team members, ensuring everyone is informed of project updates and changes.


Risk Management and Problem Solving:

  • Identifying and mitigating project risks.
  • Developing contingency plans to address potential issues.
  • Resolving conflicts and obstacles that may arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Leading preparation and rehearsal of ‘go live’ migration


Quality Assurance:

  • Ensuring project deliverables meet quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Conducting regular reviews and evaluations to assess project progress and identify areas for improvement.


Reporting and Documentation:

  • Preparing and presenting regular progress reports to Executive stakeholders.
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and change requests.
  • Leading the Programme Steering Group agenda and updates
  • Supporting HR Director with Executive and Board updates

 

Budget Management:

  • Developing programme budgets and track expenses and spend.
  • Monitoring individual project/workstream budgets to maintain overall spend clarity and control


Supplier Management:

  • Ensuring that contractual arrangements for implementation satisfy MABs requirements.
  • Holding Vendors to account for delivery.


What you’ll need to bring to this HR Programme Manager role

  • Tenacity, drive, initiative, creativity and a “can do” attitude to cope with fast paced environments and multiple demands, demonstrating the ability to solve problems and handle set-backs
  • Demonstrable depth and breadth of experience implementing multiple technology projects from initial scoping into live support; with an understanding both agile and/or waterfall methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrable clarity of thinking
  • Experience of working in complex organisations
  • Effective influencer, facilitator and communicator with the ability to simplify complex challenges and manage stakeholders.
  • Experience of managing multiple vendors and suppliers to delivery within agreed time, cost and quality parameters
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and at all levels within an organisation
  • Proven ability working in complex organisations with strong senior stakeholder management skills
  • Experienced facilitator and influencer with the ability to simplify complex challenges to stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrable clarity of thinking
  • Commercial awareness
  • Understand and communicate complex information and concepts to technical and non-technical colleagues, influencing others effectively, including at a senior level. 

 

Qualifications Required…

  • Proven experience as a Program Manager or similar role, with a track record of successfully managing complex projects from initiation to completion.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., Jira, Microsoft Project).
