At Mitchells and Butlers, we believe in providing all our teams the opportunity to grow in their roles with progression and development being a key pillar to everything we do.

In this series we will be speaking to some of the inspirational people across the business who have showcased the breadth of opportunity for progression here at M&B both across roles and our 14 unique brands.

In this blog we will be putting the spotlight on Safety Technician Anthony. Since joining M&B as a Head chef at Harvester, Anthony has worked his way up through the business from Head Chef to Accredited Kitchen Manager to Food Safety Manager. Anthony is a great example of the vast progression routes available to our team members at M&B!

In this blog Anthony speaks to us about his journey at M&B and how he feels he has been supported to create a successful career within our culinary team.

What made you decide to join M&B?

Before I joined M&B I was working for another large hospitality business. I then joined M&B when Brewers Fayre joined the business 17 years ago, as a Head Chef.

Please can you summarise your career at M&B and the different roles you have had and what the role entailed.

I joined M&B as a Head chef and the moved on to Kitchen Manager and progressed through my career into the role of Accredited Kitchen Manager. This role covered a range of responsibilities including district support for safety and stock related issues. Then in 2013 I joined the safety team as Safety Technician dealing with many areas of safety and supporting the frontline.

How has M&B supported you in your career progression?

M&B has always allowed for time to learn and improve, I have always received great support from my line managers and other team members to develop my skills.

What is your favourite thing about working in hospitality?

Variety! In my time at M&B I have had the opportunity to meet many different people who are good people!

What would you say to someone considering a career at M&B?

M&B are passionate about supporting and improving people to fully achieve their goals, they support you in many different ways.

Where could a career with M&B take you?

If Anthony's story has inspired you to find your next job with us, then what are you waiting for? We have a whole host of jobs that are yours for the taking. Check out our kitchen jobs, bar and waiting jobs or management jobs and take that one step closer to joining the M&B family.
