Celebrating LGBT+ History month: What it means and how we embrace it at M&B

What is LGBT+ History month?

LGBT+ History Month is all about celebrating the lives, achievements, and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. It’s a chance to reflect on the progress that’s been made towards equality and also to remember the struggles and challenges that the LGBT+ community has faced (and still faces).

It’s about education, understanding, and creating a more inclusive world – something we care deeply about here at M&B.

Why is LGBT+ History month important?

It’s important because it shines a light on stories that have often been left out of history books. It’s about giving the LGBT+ community the visibility and recognition they deserve.

Plus, it’s a time to celebrate diversity and show that everyone has the right to be their authentic selves.

At M&B, we want every team member and guest to feel welcome and supported – that starts with celebrating events like this.

When is LGBT+ History month?

In the UK, it’s celebrated every February. So, as the new year kicks off, it’s one of the first big moments to remind ourselves why inclusivity and kindness matter all year round.

What is theme for LGBT+ History month for 2025?

The theme for LGBT+ History Month in 2025 is "Activism and Social Change”. It’s all about reflecting on the activists who’ve driven progress and how their efforts have shaped the world we live in today.

This theme also reminds us that there’s still work to do – and that social change doesn’t just happen on its own.

At M&B, this inspires us to keep building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels empowered to be themselves. It’s a theme that resonates with our values of respect, collaboration, and creating positive change.

How we are embracing LBGT+ History month at M&B

At M&B, we’re not just about serving great food and drink – we’re about creating a culture where everyone feels they belong.

We’re committed to creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable, respected, and included. That’s why we’re planning to introduce genderless toilets at our head office. It’s a small but meaningful step towards breaking down barriers and ensuring that all our team members feel welcome.

Stories like Daniel’s, who returned to M&B because of our inclusive culture and opportunities to thrive, highlight our commitment to creating a space where people can be their authentic selves. From initiatives like the M&Be Yourself Facebook group to supporting diversity events and fostering open conversations, we’re on a journey to build a truly inclusive environment.

It’s not just a month for us – it’s a continuation of what we stand for as a business that thrives on diversity and togetherness.

Everyone’s welcome at M&B

At M&B, we’re proud to welcome people from all walks of life – whether it’s our team members or the guests we serve every day.

Diversity and inclusion aren’t just buzzwords for us; they’re part of who we are and what we stand for.

We believe that when everyone feels valued and respected, we create a stronger, more vibrant community where everyone can thrive. So, no matter who you are or where you come from, you’ll always find a place to belong at M&B.
