In any job you want to have fun, feel valued, enjoy what you do, and get rewarded and recognised along the way. As a Kitchen Manager at M&B, we can tick all those boxes for you and more.

If you’re looking to step up a level in the kitchen, or you’re looking to join a more inclusive and values-led company, we’d love to hear from you. Here are 5 reasons why you should bring your kitchen manager career to M&B:

Enjoy career progression

The teams at M&B are the cream of the crop, and we like to ensure they are receiving the necessary training and development opportunities to challenge them and allow them to gain the skills they need to progress on their chosen career path.

Many of our kitchen team members choose to start an apprenticeship with us to gain qualifications to support their career progression. Ben, for example, started with us in 2015 as an Apprentice and progressed so well that he was promoted five times in as many years, most recently to Kitchen Manager at The Hollybrook. Our apprenticeship programmes can be undertaken at any stage in your career, even alongside your current day jobs to complement your existing role. We have 13 brands with different offerings, so you’ll be able to develop your skills by working across the whole M&B group and enjoy the career progression it brings.

A structured working environment

If you’ve got previous experience working in hospitality, you’ll know that kitchens can be *busy*. At M&B, our Kitchen Managers put systems and processes in place to avoid workspaces becoming chaotic. There are many things happening at once when you work in a back-of-house role, but our Kitchen Managers plan ahead to ensure the workplace is safe and functioning well.

A Kitchen Manager’s role includes ensuring safety policies are adhered to, working environments are clean, stock levels are maintained, and team shifts are scheduled in. Not only does this improve the atmosphere for our teams, but it also takes the pressure off during service, keeping our teams cool as cucumbers and improving the overall experience for our guests.

Our team bonds are like no other

Kitchen Managers are the bread and butter of the kitchen. They’re responsible for briefing, pre-shift, during the shift and post-shift so that a team knows what they need to work efficiently together.

If you’ve had experience working in hospitality as a Kitchen Manager, you'll most likely have found that it’s the people and the culture that makes working in this industry so worthwhile. In our kitchens, however, our teams have a bond that’s like family. We look out for each other, grow together and communicate effectively to get the job done.

It's fun and rewarding

Like any job, working as a Kitchen Manager can have its challenges (there’s never a dull moment), but at M&B we like to spice it up to make work fun and ultimately rewarding. We don’t want to boast, but our teams are pretty incredible and know a thing or two about serving up a good time!

We believe you should love what you do, where you do it and why you do it. Our pubs, bars, and restaurants aren’t just places of work, for our Kitchen managers they become a home away from home and colleagues become friends. If you don’t believe us, hear from our people about LifeAtMAB!

Access to our perks

If we’ve not convinced you yet, a taste of our perks just might do it. We know how important it is to take care of our people, so we offer a fantastic package of perks which, as a Kitchen Manager at M&B, you’ll have access to. The perks cover our five wellbeing pillars (financial, physical, mental, environmental and social) and are available to every team member working in our pubs, bars, restaurants and head office.

Our most popular employee benefit is a mega 33% off your total food and drinks bill at any of our brands. You heard us... a THIRD off the bill when you dine with us. Plus once you’ve digested, you can head down to multiple gyms and wellbeing centres, all over the UK, including Nuffield, and enjoy 33% off monthly passes…
